Death notice – Scott Michael Foster née Reid
Scott Michael Foster née Reid 50, peacefully passed away on 29th of May 2026 after a six‑month battle with lung cancer. Born in the Shire, he spent most of his early life in Engadine until age 20 when he found his home in the the gong for the last 30 years, Scott lived a slightly hedonistic and rebellious life back in the day when he contributed quite a dynamic element to the party for those fortunate enough to indulge. However for the most part of his life he lived a solitary existence as his Autism made interactions with others more difficult as he settled into life more on his own terms. During his life from an early teenager through to his unfortunate passing he had a long loyal mate-ship with his best friend Troy by whom he was loved and supported in life reciprocally.
Conversing with him was always an authentic and invigorating experience, He enjoyed intellectual wordplay mixed with layered humour and wit. Couple this with obliquely contextual references to his vast knowledge of history and one had to put a good few hours aside for a session.
He was able to reconnect with family in his final months and this brought him great solace. He is survived by his loving father Gregory, his loved sisters Rebecca and Jacqui.
He will be deeply grieved and missed by his lifelong best mate Troy, who will share this loss with wife Kylie. Both will always lovingly remember him as such a significant part of their world.
Scotts loved ones wish to thank both the teams at Wollongong Hospital and Bulli Palliative Care for their compassionate care and kindness in Scott’s final days, facilitating both the maintenance of his dignity as well as his physical and mental comfort with grace.
