In Memory of Brian Andrew
We first arrived in Australia in 1981, new immigrants with no friends and no idea what to expect. Brian, my husband’s colleague, welcomed us with open arms. He took us camping, sailing, to plays in Wollongong — introducing us to the Australian way of life and to new friends. His kindness made a foreign place feel like home. We will always remember his generosity, warmth, and how lucky we are to have known him.
My wife, family and I were friends with Brian and Pamela for over 20 years. He was Head of the Accounting School at University of Canberra where both my wife Pat, and I worked in partnership with Brian. He was a wonderful academic leader who brought out the best in everyone. I still smile when I picture him with coffee in hand, going door-to-door as he rounded up his team for morning tea or a seminar presentaton.
Brian was an impactful academic leader serving in many capacities: Dean of Management and Law, Head of UC’s Brisbane Campus, and academic innovator leading the establishment of successful partnerships with government departments and universities overseas. He was an excellent teacher and academic who made a valuable contribution to researc, to his profession and to higher education generally.
Brian was a man of many talents and a wide range of interests. For example, we both shared a love of sport, especially tennis and jogging, though Brian also played touch football, golf and more.
We are blessed to have had Brian in our lives. He was in all respects a wonderful person who leaves an outstanding legacy of a life well lived.
He shall be greatly missed and forever remembered.
The Clark family sends our deepest condolences to Pamela and family.
