Tributes

  1. Swam with Norm for last 35 years
Went to school with his kids at Bulli high.
Norm was just a pleasure to be around, always joking around and making people laugh.
I’ll miss seeing him every Sunday. I’ll take comfort in the fact we had a away trip to Dubbo the weekend before which we had a great time and also he was doing something he loved at the end.
    Miss you already “Abnormal”

  2. A LEGEND NEVER forget all his great stories and the trips fishing over the river with my old man and going hunting for piss worms and talking about the bush I know he be up there now with them all having yarns and fishing and knocking over the Billy rip Norm

  3. RIP with the Angels Norm you will be missed by many people.

Wish I could have caught up recently 😪

  4. I met Norm at Stanwell Park while he was house sitting. A bunch of us older guys met on the beach at 7 every morning with our hound dogs for a walk, laugh and stories. But the first time I met Norm he helped me pull a deceased person from the surf, as we were both piss weak it was a struggle . Straight away Norm seemed a very unique character who had lived a very interesting life and was great company. Norms sudden passing was a shock to me as we had agreed to do coffee this week. A great bloke who will be missed by all.

  5. Well with norm Upton where do we Start I first met norm in tower colliery he was 1 of the better deputies would stand up for his crew pull them into gear if needed call them lazy bustards if need be but tomorrow was always a new day he was sort of bloke who said it how it was even the other deputies pommie ** he said remember a etime when we were going under ground he loved fruit cake with butter gave him some in the cage whilst going down he shouted out to everyone looked at Greg brought his favourite deputy little did he know it had empitol salts mixed up with the butter norm being norm couldn’t wait until get into the panel gorged himself no crib that shift he will missed by a lot of people but not forgotten that’s the difference about norm he always left nearly every one happy unless as norm Upton would say they are dead set c,,,

  6. Norm was a mischievous character and was always trying to catch someone out.
On the day he went, he tried to catch cookie out tickling him on the ear to make him look the other way. It was very surprising after that to see what happened to him.
He delighted in bringing Maz Chokos and told her not to change the recipe as it is the best pickles he’s tasted.
He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

  7. Uncle Norm, Storming Normin or Normie.
First my Uncle but always my friend. .

You were the best Santa Claus going round and the memories of all of us together at Organs Rd are etched forever in my mind.
I’ll never forget how you found my letters to Pete when I was like 7 and you taunted me that you’d read them out at my 16th, 18th, 21st and my wedding. It was so nice to know that you actually keep it safe and in tip top condition when I read this weekend.
You raised 3 beautiful children with Aunty Lin, kind, caring and cheeky and I’m lucky that I like everyone was welcome and part of this wonderful family. Your spirit will live on through them. ..
Always a larrikin, until we have a chat and an ale on the verandah …

    RIP Normie 🇦🇺🎣

    Vale xx

  9. Wrapping my arms around you Souni
With you and family in spirit
Sorry I’m not there in person
    Love and hugs 🥰 💕💕💕💕

  10. Thinking of you all today Louise, Souni and family. May you find comfort in the treasured memories of your dear dad. Sending big hugs your way.

  11. My wife Jules and I moved next-door to Norm and Linda in 2022, and needless to say Norm was the best neighbour a young couple could ask for.

He was so kind in that he would constantly bring over gifts from the garden or chooks, and was always popping by for a quick yarn.

Through Norm we learned so much about the history of the area from a true local’s perspective. All of his stories were amazing.

One of the first times chatting with Norm I mentioned I loved one of his shirts as I’m an apparel designer – and he literally took it off and gave it to me.

Thank you for all the laughs Norm, the history and stories, and for making a young couple eager to settle in a new place truly feel like home.

Our thoughts and love go out to the Upton’s, beautiful words said today by all the family and was amazing to see so many people whose lives Norm made better.

  12. Wonderful l9ving family man always cracking people up,you will be sadly missed Uppo love Glenn and Marlis Duff
