I met John in London 1971 when we were doing our post graduate Law Society examinations at the College of Law in Lancaster Gate.
We soon became friends partly due to our passion for opera and classical music..
We would often travel from London to my parents’ house in North Wales for long weekends.
He was the best man at my wedding in 1974.
I am shocked and incredibly sad to learn of his passing.
He was such a character and I will remember him with great fondness.
My sincere condolences to Bruce, Carol and family.
John
I am devastated that you have been taken from us. Since we met in 1974 in London you have always been a constant and loyal friend. After your holiday in Sydney and then your permanent move and my returned to Australia where you were employed at Sly & Russell we had our regular Thursday lunch with our good friend Maggie. During the years we had lots of days out picnics /dinners/movies/theatre with Greg and Maggie. Happy times at your 2 Sydney homes including many movie nights. Your love of cinema and fitness stayed with you right to the end. I didn’t know how you would get up at the crack of dawn and head to the gym 5 or 6 mornings a week. I was honoured that you asked me to be a witness at your wedding to Bruce, such a happy day. When you and Bruce finally made the move to Bomaderry and to your spacious home, life seemed very content for you. Your devotion to Riley and then Pip gave an added level of enjoyment to your life. Even with this move from Sydney you stayed in touch and we enjoyed catching up on a regular basis. These words don’t do you justice but I am just heartbroken that you will not be in my life. I will miss you very much and thank you for all the years of friendship. I hope you have found that big cinema in the sky. With all my love Julia
