Beloved husband of Joyce. Loving father and father-in-law to Alan & Kelly, Gavin & Linda and Karan & Saul. Devoted Pop to John, Hayden, Sophie, Caine, Madison, Oliver, Amelia, Jack, Lara and Fred and to his great-grandchildren Harry, Eddie, Logan, Remi, Lincoln and Isabel.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Herb’s life will be held at ‘Warragaburra’, 1364 Tathra Road, Bega at 1.30 p.m., Friday 22nd March, 2024.
Relatives and friends are warmly invited to attend.

So saddened by this, a sincere, stoic family patriarch and uncle who along with Joyce always showed kindness and much needed support to my mother Lorna and to my sisters and myself upon her passing. Will always be appreciated, loved and missed. Thoughts go out to Aunty Joyce, Alan, Gavin, Karen and families – Sally Spurling
So sad, such a kind man with a beautiful loving family. Please accept my condolences. Unfortunately I only read about the memorial service on line this afternoon. Rod and I are presently at Mudgee for a few days and it will be impossible to get to Bega for the 1.30pm service tomorrow. Love Gay Hannigan and Rod Wallis
We were shocked and saddened to hear of Herb’s passing. He was a well respected and valued member of the community. We have fond memories of dealing with Herb to buy cattle for our butchery business over many years.
Unfortunately we are unable to be present for the memorial ceremony, but send our deepest condolences to Joyce and the family.

I will miss you Herb ,we have known each other for more than 55 yrs .Waragaburra or in the surf at Tathra Beach,was always great to talk with you about our respective travels .You will be greatly missed Herb. RIP HERB.

Herb was a kind wonderful person who will be dearly missed.
Many happy memories chatting about fishing, farming or just life in general. We always had a few laughs.

Herb had a saying – “old friends are good friends”. I am happy to have been one of Herb’s “old friends “. He was the best friend you could ask for.

Dear Joyce and family, I am very sad to hear of Herbs passing – he will be very fondly remembered by friends and family.
I, along with my wife Diane and daughter Erin arrived in the Bega Valley from Sydney in 1978. We bought ” Brightonville”, at Candelo from Herb shortly afterwards. We knew absolutely nothing about rural life. Herb became our patient mentor and despite him always being frantically busy he always had time for our naive enquiries. We have very strong and fond memories of Herb.

So sorry to hear of Herb’s passing, We only found out today of the sad news. Herb was one of Jellat Jellat’s great men. He will be sadly missed but all of us.
