a final goodbye to Sir Paul to me and maybe others…a gentleman a friend a collegue a family man honoured respected by the community …when coming into my pharmacy Plevey’s he was always up for a chat a reminisce good old days ect who is going to win the Melbourne cup and all that …but he was going to be one of my special octarions in June even on the pharmacy calendar as a reminder but as he once told me hahah all that stuff and anyways I “dont want a letter from HIM the King ,Charles that is or HER the Queen ,Camilla but I would of accepted graciously from the Queen Elizabeth the true Queen that is” a royal at heart and Sir he was xxxxxxxx sadly missed Gena Whitby (Summerell)
Dear Dr Windle… The loveliest and most calm gentleman – I now wonder if he considered the Kennedy kids as rowdy patients. Paul would have been Beryl’s best behaved. Audrey was such a bright spark and it was a pleasure to see her when she visited my store or stop for a chat around town. A lovely family. I hope Helen, James, Pete, Clair and their loved ones are comforted by happy memories of Audrey & Paul. Cathy
A wonderful man (and dentist)
My husband Brian spent many years in Bega Rotary with him where they both enjoyed each others humour.
He drove his “Chariot” to the Bega library where I helped him chose his audiobooks.
I would seek him out when the Bega Girl Guides did their annual visit to Hillgrove.
Such a shame he didn’t reach 100, but as we know when our body tells us it’s time,”it’s time to go”.
I hope he has a chance to have a glass of red wine with Brian.
He will be missed by so many.
Rest in peace, Paul
Anne
Sending much love to Helen, Peter, James and families. Paul and Audrey were great friends of my parents, David and Gillian Oates. Dad loved his weekly coffee meetings with Paul, where they would reminisce about adventures involving race horses and trips to the Melbourne Cup. In recent times I had the pleasure of attending Barry Hyland’s weekly piano recital at Hillgrove House with Dad and Paul, where they sang with great gusto Paul’s standing request, “South of the Border”. Thank you Paul for your friendship, good humour and kindness to all who knew you. We will raise a toast on your 100th birthday next month in your honour. Travel well, Paul. With much love from your old pal, David Oates.
Paul and Audrey became close and supportive friends when our parents Ted and Marie Swinbourne moved to Bega in 1972. So many happy occasions and memorable stories of great success with breeding slow race horses. Thank you Paul and Audrey from Helen Swinbourne and Sue McGill.
