A beautiful lady will be sadly missed thinking of your family R I. P
We shared spreading the news and community information over radio and through newspapers for many years. Claire contributed greatly to the Bega Valley Community.
Much Love and treasured memories to all family and friends from Andrew and Jane Ogilvie.
Dear Claire
Such an intelligent and bright person who was a joy to work with and cross paths around town.
As children, we saw Claire’s loss of her husband at such a young age and we cared very much about her and her children.
Sad for your heartache in losing Claire and I hope fond memories bring some relief to you all.

Claire was an inspiration. As a young girl growing up in Bega, I admired her as a strong independent woman – her intellect, wit and joie de vivre. Such happy memories of the drama society and visits to see Claire at The Bega District News office. Claire was a good friend to my mum, Gillian, and I know they enjoyed many wonderful Book Club gatherings together. Big hugs to you Deb, Mandy, Becky and Tim. Your mum was one of a kind. Much love to you all, Jaqi Coan (nee Oates) xxxx
Such a beautiful woman, strong and greatly admired. A real pleasure to have known and worked with you Claire. You have left this world a better place.
My condolences, love and hugs to you Deb, Mandy, Becky and Tim. Your mum was truly special.
Clare was such a beautiful woman with a great love of Bega Valley history and stories. I first met Clare at Bega Primary School 50 years ago where I worked and our children went to school. She will be sadly missed my all who knew her. My deepest sympathy and love to her family. Nancy Hinde
A lovely lady and icon of Bega 💓Claire you will be missed…..lots of love to your family from Matt and Ree Preo💓
Claire served as chair and vice chair of Far South Coast Family Support (now Sapphire Neighbourhood Service) for almost four decades. She was a founder of the service, having recognised the lack of support in our community for women and children in need. Under her leadership the organisation grew steadily from its modest beginning in 1988 when it was open one hour a day, 4 days a week to where we are today – open 5 days a week, with seven staff.
Claire brought her humour, intelligence, and forthright approach to our meetings. She was an effective advocate for social justice and politically savvy. When a problem arose enlisting the support of our local members was her go to move. I learned a great deal from working alongside her for 30 years on our Board, though I still can’t run a meeting with half her efficiency.
Claire’s death is a great loss and she will be sorely missed. Through her lifetime of community activism and volunteering however, her legacy remains an inspiration to us all.
Like others on this page, I am grateful to have known and worked with Claire.
Such a beautiful tribute to Claire’s life and legacy, Becky. Sending big hugs to you all. xoxo
Claire we will miss you. Our sympathy to all the family.

Dear Deborah and Mandy, I am so sorry to hear of your mum’s loss. She was an amazing woman: strong, determined and indomitable would be my three words for her. But her strength always came with love and a smile, a big heart for her family and her passions. Her legacy will live on. May you see her presence in what she left.
