Tributes

  1. I had the pleasure of working with Therese at the Department of Immigration during the 1980’s and even though it was many years ago, I have fond memories of Therese that I wanted to write a short tribute.

I remember Therese as a kind and caring person. She was always happy to help me and all the other staff in the office, especially with interpreting and translating. I was always in awe of the many languages she spoke and her ability to switch languages so easily. Occasionally she would start a conversation with me in another language and we would laugh together when I would have to say “English please”. Also with thanks to Therese, I know how to say a few phases in other languages.

Another fond memory is of Therese’s baklava. Occasionally she would bring a tray of baklava to work, it would never last long and to this day whenever I have baklava, I can’t help but do the comparison and I usually end up thinking “it’s not as good as Therese’s”. She made the most delicious baklava.

I remember Therese often spoke of her family at work especially her grandchildren. She spoke of them with such pride and joy and I know this must be a very difficult time for them. However, I do hope they can take comfort in knowing that after all these years Therese’s kind and caring nature is still remembered and that for me, it was a real privilege to have worked with her.

May you rest in peace Therese

  2. I too worked with Therese in Immigration and have deep respect for her Selfless and Altruistic nature,
A kind, intelligent and caring woman who always looked out for the needs of others.
Therese was a beacon of light in the Community and her work with Itsowel and the Italian community was a particular Joy and Passion for her.
Her biggest Passion and Joy however was her Family
Therese was Fiercely Proud of Nadine and Tony, and anytime she spoke of her Grandchildren a huge beaming smile would come across her face and her eyes would Sparkle !
A truly Amazing and selfless Human being who we should all Aspire to be like!
    Ciao Bella
