To Becky and all of Robs family and friends we want to send our deepest sympathy. You were such great neighbours R.I.P Rob.
Rob was a rarity!
He reminded me a lot of my wonderful late father.
Rob was a devoted family man and a special part of my boys early lives.
He treated everyone with a caring, helpful, enthusiastic positivity.
Rob was so handy, able to turn his hand to almost anything with lots of knowledge from his grandfather Herbert.
A very clever man achieving great things in his career as well as being able to talk to anyone on pretty well any subject.
An extremely capable sportsman with a great sense of humour and a good looking man to boot!
Rob had it all, as I said, a rare, unique, lovely person who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
In deepest sympathy to Becky, Sam and Katie
To Becky and all Robs family, deepest condolences and our thoughts are with you all on the sad loss of a true gentleman.
A beautiful, amazing, inspirational and humble guy who brought people together. A true privilege to be his friend and in his company. Rob will be remembered always with happiness and smiles for the joy he brought to our lives.
Deepest sympathy to all the family
Rob was a lovely bloke
Many happy memories xx
I was very sorry to learn of the passing of Uncle Robert. I shall cherish the time I got to spend with him, catching up and talking about family history on his most recent trip back to the UK.
In my younger days when he lived in the UK and I was a boy of delicate temperament, my impression of him was of a rough and tumble guy, practical but intelligent, and I realised with a more mature head on my shoulders; sensitive. He was a person of depth, though I can see how his rugged simplicity may have caused some to overlook his inner qualities, and form an impression that did not reflect the man who was more than he seemed.
He was much loved by the whole family, and definitely someone people gravitated to, I believe in part because of his innate common sense, which, surprisingly, is not that common… He was someone who had a way of making you feel at ease in his company; you knew where you stood with Uncle Rob. I do not mean he was a knuckle-dragging simple-minded sort of a fella, far from it, but it was that common sense side of him that kept things simple; kept things clear.
Uncle Rob shared with us many experiences and left us many great memories; flying kites at Filey caravan park, digging holes down on the beach, being rescued by him coming off the water slide into a cloud of bubbles at the swimming pool and being used as a human climbing frame and leg-and-a-wing machine. He was a lovely family man, and wonderful uncle to me, my siblings, and cousins, but above all he was the greatest of great shirts.
My thoughts over the last few days have of course been for our beloved Auntie Becky and cousins Sam and Katie as they deal with the enormous loss of a wonderful soulmate and father.
To Becky & family, such sad news. Worked with Rob on Nimrod for a few years. A lovely person inside and out. Sending love to you all at this very sad time.

My uncle Rob was one of the nicest, caring, fun and cleverest guys I have had the pleasure of knowing.
I have never met anybody who had a bad word about him and he knew plenty of people aswell.
That alone is a testament of what a truly great man he was.
I have always tried to follow in similar traits to Rob and always looked uo to him.
