Tributes

  1. My beloved Uncle George, we may have been separated by tens of thousands of miles and many years, but despite the time, distance and apparent inability of both sides of our family to keep in regular touch, you were nevertheless always in my thoughts.

I will always be grateful for the happy time we spent together when you came back to the UK to visit back in the 80’s and then when you came back again with Georgie to be such a special part of my wedding day in 1998.

I remember fondly when I was a small boy and you came home from the merchant navy with a Siamese kitten wearing a roll neck jumper ( the cat, not you) because he was feeling the cold, who had seemingly found a passage on your ship back to the uk from the Far East. He was introduced as “Hari” and he became our much loved family pet for many years.

According to your mother- (my grandmother) and your sister Margaret, how you rescued me from “the burn”across the road, (that’s a stream to non Scottish speakers), is the stuff of family legend. The fact that you probably allowed me to fall in in the first place when the two of us went out for a walk, is probably best glossed over. Haha!

I could go on, but wherever you set sail for on your next journey, I wish you bon voyage and hope you will take the love of your family with you.

    Your loving nephew

    Alan x

  2. You will be missed. You may not have lived near enough for me to pop round for a cup of tea and a chat but you have always had a home in my heart. Sending love and condolences to Georgie and the girls. Fiona and family x
