There are some people who move through this world quietly, never seeking attention, yet leaving the deepest imprint on the hearts of everyone they meet. My godmother was one of those rare souls.
She spoke softly, but her presence was powerful. There was a gentleness in her voice and a calmness in her nature that made you feel safe, understood, and cared for. She had a kindness that never needed to be announced — it was simply who she was, in every word, every gesture, every moment.
She had a remarkable way of putting others before herself. No matter what someone was going through, she listened without judgment, offered comfort without hesitation, and gave her compassion so freely. She carried an empathy that made people feel seen and valued, and that is a gift not many possess.
It’s hard to think of a single unkind word she ever spoke — because there wasn’t one. She chose warmth over criticism, patience over frustration, and love above all else. That’s why she was so deeply loved by everyone who knew her. Being around her felt easy, natural, and genuine.
Her absence leaves a quiet space that can never quite be filled, but her spirit remains in the way she touched our lives. In every act of kindness, in every moment of understanding, in every gentle word — that’s where she still lives on.
She may have been softly spoken, but the love she gave was loud and lasting. And that is something that will never fade.
Rest in Peace Kuma Milanka
