Tributes

  1. Some people come into our lives and leave footprints on our hearts that can never be erased. You were one of those truly special people in my life.

You brought so much love, warmth, laughter and kindness into the lives of everyone who was blessed to know you. Your friendship was a precious gift, and I will forever treasure the memories we shared and the special place you held in my heart.

To your beloved Mervyn, and your beautiful family, Elissa, Michael, Jessica and Cooper — my heart aches for each of you. I hope you can hold close the love and beautiful memories that Lindy gave you throughout her life.

May you find strength and comfort in one another during this heartbreaking time, and may the beautiful memories of Lindy bring you moments of peace through the sadness. Please know that you are all held in my thoughts and my heart, with so much love.

Lindy, you were so much more than a friend — you were someone deeply special to me. I am forever grateful that our paths crossed, and I will carry your beautiful memory with me always.

Rest peacefully now, my darling Lindy.
You were loved beyond words, missed beyond measure, and will never be forgotten.

Until we meet again, beautiful lady,
    Forever in my heart. ❤️

  2. Remembering Lindy, a cherished friend, gone too soon. Her gentle spirit, loyalty, kindness and quiet strength will never be forgotten. With gratitude for the time we shared as colleagues and friends. The memories are strong and remain in my heart.

  3. I am so sad that I can’t be at your funeral to say goodbye but glad that I said spent some time with you a week or so ago, in person. Lindy was that same person I have known for the past 20 years and more – a friend, a colleague, a fellow traveller – someone with a ready smile, eager to share a laugh, thoughtful, rational and sincere but despite her appearance of physical fragility and her quiet voice, she was strong enough to stand by her own opinions despite pressures to do otherwise. Her years at TAFE showed her great determination, her care of students and staff which was supreme. Sadly, TAFE has seen many changes and what is forgotten about Lindy are the late nights, the early starts and the passion that she exuded about studies in business administration, and what was called the “practice firm”. That practice firm which became the “virtual enterprise” was Lindy’s pride and joy. She was passionate about the all-round experience that students had by being part of this almost-real life, hands on, reality work in an office. She fought hard for it to be given centre stage in the revamp of the Business Administration area in 2005. It is truly an epitaph to her contribution for business administration students at Ultimo TAFE. On a personal level, Lindy was a dear friend, empathetic, kind, considerate and wise. She always had time to provide advice and support. In an essay I wrote on educational leadership with Lindy at the helm some 18 years ago, I suggested that she would rather be thought of as a member of a community of practice where we all share an active role. She did not see herself as the star. She was collaborative, inclusive, non-judgemental, and caring. She always had time to give help and guidance. Lindy – you may not have seen yourself as the star, but you certainly shone in my eyes. I won’t forget you. RIP Lindy. xxxx

  4. So saddened to hear of Lindy’s passing. Please accept my heartfelt condolences, Mervyn, Elissa, and to all your family.

Lindy was a truly beautiful person. She was always softly spoken and elegant, with a heart of gold. She had a natural kindness and generosity that saw her willingly support and help anyone in need. Lindy was conscientious in all that she did, and her family was always at the centre of her world. She will be remembered fondly and greatly missed.

  5. To my beautiful, beloved friend I am so sorry to hear you left so soon. I consider that when you left, a light went out in this World. Lindy you are a very special person in my life, who I admired, looked up to and loved.

I have known you since I was 10 years of age when I had the pleasure of meeting you in your parent’s home. I know your parents will be very proud of the good life you have led and how you have touched and improved the lives of so many people. We are all very blessed to have known such a special soul like you.

Personally, words can not express my gratitude enough for the wisdom, generosity and time you have spent guiding and helping me through the ups and downs in my life.

To dearest Mervyn, Elissa, Roger and family. I am so sorry for your loss, my thoughts, love and prayers are with you during this difficult time.

Lindy, you meant the World to me, I will never forget you and you will remain forever in my heart.

  6. Mervyn, we are so sorry for your loss of Lindy. We are very grateful for the glimpses we had of her life and the times we shared when you both visited. Even though those times were short, we knew Lindy was very special. The service we just witnessed was a wonderful tribute to her life and we will remember her always. Love and prayers are with you. Will talk soon. From Gary and Glenda in Waterloo, WA.

  8. Although I didn’t grow up with my cousin Lynne and her family, somehow our families always seemed to know what was happening in each others lives. Lynne wrote regularly to my mother, keeping us up to date with all the family news, and in that way the connection was always there.

I still have a very special memory frm when I was in my twenties and visited Kiam. Linday and Mervyn took me to Jervis Bay on the most beautiful summer’s day. The water was absolutely pristine and being the water baby that I am I was in my element. All these years later, I have never forgotten that day or their kindess in taking me there.

As the years passed, Facebook gave us a lovely way to stay in touch and continue to share little glimpses into each other’s lives.

Lindy’s passing at just 75 is very sad. My thoughts are with all her family, and I hope the many wonderful memories they have of her bring them comfort in the days ahead.

May Lindy rest peacefully, remembered with love for a life well lived.
