Very sorry Marie to hear of John’s passing.
Having worked with John at Avon Colliery
and associated with him at Yellow Rock Colliery and beyond.
John was always a great mentor to me and a great mate.
I extend my condolences to you and all your family.
He was a real character and will be sorely missed by all that knew him.
Regards
Bob Pearson
My deepest sympathy to you Maree and your family. John was a beloved brother of my darling David and my brother in law for 38 years. Together again.
For Uncle John
Four generations gathered close
when you slipped away in peace,
a husband, father, grandad, great —
a love that will not cease.
But what I’ll carry in my heart
goes back to when I was young,
out fishing at Bass Point with you,
when days were warm and long.
You and Dad would bait the lines
and teach me how to wait,
two brothers, one small eager kid —
those mornings were first-rate.
Our families shared the holidays,
the laughter and the years,
the kind of times you only know
were golden in hindsight’s tears.
And still in later years you’d find
a way to make me smile —
a cold schooner at the bowls club,
your jokes worth every mile.
Rest easy now, Uncle John,
your family holds you near —
and somewhere in the memories,
I’ll raise a quiet beer.
