Tributes

  1. Rest in Peace Derek 🙏
With love from your old friends in Chelmsford
Lyn, Hank, Andy, Donna & Lisa xxx

  2. Our beautiful Uncle Derek.
Our lives and hearts have been forever changed because of the impact you and Aunty June have had in our lives.
From before Charleen and Jacyleen were born, you were there to guide Swee Bee and Kim. To Charleen and Jacyleen you were the most magnificent unofficial God Parents, there for every celebration and major life milestone. We were blessed to have you know Hope and meet Harper and Hunter. May you rest in peace Uncle Derek and once again enjoy those Yorkshire puddings with Aunty June in heaven (free of having Charleen and Jacyleen pinching them from your plate). All our love, Kim & Swee Bee, Jacyleen, Charleen, Cameron, Hope, Hunter & Harper.

  3. Derek was connected to me through our mutual love of genealogy! Our most recent common ancestors were Michael Dalton (1765-1953) and Jane Anthony(1771-1849) who married in 1796 in Great Coggeshall Essex.
Their daughter, Rebecca became my 3x great grandmother when she married Robert Young, a bricklayer.
Derek.and I were 4th cousins, as his mother Beryl Card was my 3rd cousin. Beryl’s mother Annie Harris married Frank Card in 1891. Annie was the daughter of Eliza Dalton( born 1829) who married Joseph Harris in 1853.
Eliza’s father was Michael Dalton b 1804 in Great Coggeshall Essex to Michael Dalton and Jane Anthony..
Derek and I figured all this out way before others began using DNA tests, and we began exchanging Christmas greetings many years ago. He in Australia, and I in Canada.
I missed his greeting last year, and shall think of him fondly each Christmas that passes.
He was one of the good ones, and I am blessed to have had contact with him over the years.
My confolences in the loss of your father, grandfather and my friend and cousin, Derek.
