John bravely fought a long battle without ever complaining. He passed away at home surrounded by his family, who will all miss him terribly. Loving husband of 54 years to Sharyn. Good mate and loving father to Matthew, Simon and Lisa, Patrick and Louise, Eamonn and Sarah. Proud and much loved grandfather of Charlotte, Joseph, Charles, Edward and Grace. Cherished brother and brother-in-law to Michael and Trish Byrne, Maureen and Ross Cleary, Stephen and Kerry Goodwin and his many nieces and nephews. John will be remembered fondly and missed dearly by his family and many wonderful friends.
Special thank you for the incredible support given by the Illawarra Palliative Care team and Silver Chain which enabled John to remain at home with his family
Relatives and friends are invited to attend John’s funeral service to be held at St Francis Xavier’s Cathedral, Harbour Street Wollongong on Friday, 23 April 2021 at 10am.

Sharyn thinking of you and the boys and their partners. Found memories of the time that I worked with John, we had many laughs, I remember the time when I first started working for you guys, Paul & I went to Fairy Meadow bowling club for a party and half the patients were there & I remember saying to John on the Monday morning I know now were you are getting all your patients from! Thinking of you in this very sad time
