  18. I had only known Wal for the last 13 years since coming onto the Marco Polo Board.
Wal was a foundation member of Marco Polo Aged Care since 1983.
I learnt a great deal from him, he was a successful business man in the Illawarra. He had a capacity to think outside the square, he got things done.
In 2014, he put foreword a suggestion to the Marco Polo Board to build a new Aged care facility at Woonona.
During the construction, Wal was nearly always on site offering suggestions and implementing changes that brought the build in well under budget.
Marco Polo now has a beautiful Aged care facility of 168 beds, a testament to his ability to get things done.
What a mind? What a man? What a legacy?
