Algy was always a gentleman, with a positive outlook on life and a delight to be friends with. My husband Barry and I will miss him hugely.
Our hearts go out to Suellen and all the family for their great loss.

  8. We are so saddened to hear of Algys
passing and our hearts go out to Suellen and family at this time of sorrow. We became very close to Sue and Algy when we lived in Woonona for many years. A really lovely couple.

  9. I was at Corrimal High School with Algy while in previous years at Primary School in Woonona with Suellen. I was surprised many years later to discover they were life partners.
Algy was a high school pin- up. So handsome and athletic.
A real gentleman and family man. There was an obvious but quiet sense of his genuine warmth and humour.
His absence from his closest love ones is almost too sad to contemplate.
Suellen you will be in my heart Sincere love and condolences.

  10. We met Algy in the 70s and have remained friends since. We remember good times together in France and Australia, especially the last time we shared a great day with our nieces and nephews in St Aignan. He was a delightful friend and we will miss him dearly. All our thoughts to you Sue. Love.

  11. I send my deepest sympathy to Suellen and her family.
    from Roger Fleming.

  12. Algy and Sue, Sue and Algy – to us, together, forever, hand in hand, inextricably linked. So many memories in common! since 1956 with Sue, and a few years later with Sue and Algy. We’ll never forget the first time we met Algy and Sue, and Irene and Bill, in Paris in 1989 for the bicentenary of the French Revolution when we danced together at midnight Place de la Bastille, or our first trip “Down Under” in 1994, or our trips together to Australia and New Zealand – including the quarantine of some French “saucissons” we had brought to Algy and Sue to share together with the traditional French apéro, as we did so often.

Algy and his fine smile, Algy and the twinkle in his eye, Algy and his craftsmanship, Algy and his great professional know-how, Algy and his immense generosity, Algy and his unfailing affection and loyalty towards his friends, without forgetting his passion for vinyl records from around the world and his singing for us and our children the Lithuanian national anthem.

Algy shared Sue’s love of France, and twenty years ago he bought with her a small townhouse in Saint-Aignan, which allowed us to see each other on a daily basis and to discover new qualities in Algy from one day to the next.

Algy, you may be the first to go, but we know that you are still and forever with us, in Sue’s heart and in our hearts too.

With much love from the Morel family and clan from France and Scotland

  13. I was so saddened to hear of Algy’s passing. Sue, May all the wonderful memories of a lifetime spent together, both in Australia and France, sustain you and bring comfort too, knowing your friends and family share your pain at this difficult time. Ally was such a lovely man, full of kindness, humour and warmth. He is irreplaceable, but I know you will be bravely keeping his memory bright with the support of your family, as he is laid to rest. My fond love, Catriona.

  14. We are with you, Sue, all the time, Max and Clara Tenhave

  15. God bless him… condolences to Sue, family & friends. From Margaret Chandler (Martiska) & family in Far North Queensland.

  16. The friendship between Algy and me started when we were about twelve living a block apart in Bellambi. It was a friendship destined to last for life. Algy was friendly, and I can not recall him ever being aggressive towards any one. He was good at sport, especially soccer, the best second-half I have ever seen and I was lucky enough to have played in the same Corrimal High School team as he, but my talent in the game was well below his. I will miss him and remember him as one of the best friends I ever had. RIP (A.J.)

  17. I knew Algy from the time that we were children. Our Lithuanian heritage cemented our connection, despite a time that we didn’t see each other for decades.

Algy was a gentleman in the tradition that our fathers had demonstrated. I could never forget our Lithuanian background when with him and Sue. He made me proud of our shared origin.

I am so sad that I cannot be at Algy’s funeral. My deepest condolences go to you, Sue, and to your family.
I know that the love you shared with Algy will help to sustain you.

    Irene Herbert-Lowe (Alkevicius)

My thoughts and prayers are with you all as you farewell your beloved Algy!
