  1. Hi everyone,

I just wanted to take a moment to share some thoughts and memories of Billi, someone I had the privilege of caring for and supporting for the past 4 years consistently, and 7 years on and off.

Billi was certainly one of a kind. She was cheeky, funny, full of personality and had a way of putting a smile on your face, even on the days that were challenging. Supporting Billi wasn’t always easy, and I know we all experienced our own challenges along the way with her anger, behaviours and the difficulties that came with providing her support. There were days that tested us as staff, but through it all, we continued to show up for Billi, support her and be there for her in our own ways.

When I think about Billi, it’s the little moments and memories that I will always cherish. One of my favourite things was opening the door and seeing the smile on her face when I told her who it was. Those little moments made all the difference and reminded me why the work we do is so important.

I loved taking Billi out shopping, buying the things she loved and seeing her enjoy her day. I’ll always remember our lunch and coffee dates, our days out in the community, and the conversations we would have along the way. One thing that always made me laugh was Billi telling me all about the different people she knew in the community, with so much confidence and such a great story to tell, even when she didn’t actually know them at all! That was just Billi being Billi, and it’s one of those memories that will always bring a smile to my face.

I know everyone who supported Billi will have their own stories, memories and moments that they will carry with them. We all played a part in her journey, and despite the challenges we faced, we continued to care, support and advocate for her. I hope that when we think of Billi, we remember not just the hard days, but also the laughs, the smiles, the outings and all those little moments that made our time with her special.

Billi, you certainly kept us on our toes, gave us plenty of stories to tell and left a mark on those who had the privilege of supporting you. You will be missed, and you will always be remembered.

    Rest peacefully, Billi. ❤️
